"IT'S UNBELIEVABLE".....
DeDe's story is short and amazing. She began an adventure of the heart in 1995 when life's circumstances felt overwhelming, dark and hopeless. A friend reminded her that stars shine the brightest on the darkest of nights. This sparked an internal knowing in DeDe that there is beauty and purpose in all things. A small faint voice within her began to chant "paint". She ignored the skeptics and began to paint…a lot! What emerged was just short of phenomenal.
Within a short period of time DeDe was painting portraits indicative of a well trained artist. People began to notice. Her paintings began to sell and grow in demand. DeDe herself marveled at what her untrained eyes and hands were creating and knew instinctively that she was not working alone. She graciously explains that God allows this gift to express through her. In a remarkably short period of time, her work began to reach national prominence. An observer in her humble studio would hear discussions with clients including names of presidents, senators, ambassadors, sports heroes, and celebrities.
DeDe claims inspiration from Rembrandt, Vermeer, and especially James Tennison, who gently 'knocked on the door' inviting the artist within her to emerge. She enjoys family and friends (two and four legged varieties) on what she calls her piece of heaven in a small wooded community in Texas. After graduating from Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth with a Bachelor of Science degree, she had a successful career in corporate management, but now enjoys national recognition as a rising star in American portraiture.
DeDe has a gentle spirit and serene nature which often earns her the earth-mother title, and between visits and phone calls with the nation's who's who, she enjoys her peaceful life. "I will always paint people" she states with clarity, "but I envision expanding my work to include children's literature and book illustrations which speak messages of the heart. I also have a vision of how my artwork could help children in need around the world. My heart writes songs of love that I see in pictures. The pictures are complete. My challenge is to get them on canvas."
There are two words many people utter when they hear about DeDe's 'story'; her adventure of the heart. They are the same two words she often hears when she delivers a finished portrait: "It's Unbelievable!"
